Deirdre Cooper Owens, PhD, is the author of Medical Bondage: Race, Gender, and the Origins of American Gynecology. She helped launch the second challenge the CTSC's 2nd Annual Health Equity Challenge Series, a book discussion about the text that she wrote. A group of community members, researchers, clinicians, and representatives from philanthropy and government convened at the Cleveland Botanical Garden on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 to hear Dr. Cooper Owens speak. This segment includes the welcome message, introductions of Cleveland City Councilwoman Stephanie Howse-Jones and Dr. Cooper-Owens, a special message from Councilwoman Howse-Jones, as well as question and answer, moderated by Carmen Blackwell, an anchor and reporter at WKYC Channel 3.
