Dishwasher Repairmen Find Starved Tot-Girl Bound With Thick Duct Tape

Maintenance workers at a Houston apartment complex get a service call for a broken dishwasher. As they make repairs, a child can be heard crying in another room. The workers find a toddler, lying on the living room floor under a blanket. Lifting the blanket, the girl's limbs are duct-taped together. The workers call Houston police.

Police take the girl to the hospital, where doctors say she might not have survived the night had she not been brought in for care. KPRC reports the child is non-verbal and suffering from physical and psychological abuse. Doctors discovered she also suffered a brain bleed caused by head trauma, anemia, and kidney failure as a result of the abuse. She is also extremely emaciated.  

The girl's guardian and cousin, Toniesha Deshae Perkins, Perkins' boyfriend, Kenry Flukers, and the toddler’s teen aunt, Mya Jhari Breaux-McGruder, are now charged with injury to a child and unlawful restraint.
