Boris Johnson will face questions from Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer amid an outbreak of the new Kent mutation covid variant, they found 11 cases in Bristol.

“Senior health officials now confirm the variant there is not imported from abroad but a home grown mutation of the Kent variant — making it the first known outbreak of a mutation’s mutation in the U.K.”

But, the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine offers significant protection after a single dose and has a “substantial” effect on the transmission of the coronavirus.

The first point offers real vindication of Britain’s policy of leaving a 12-week gap between doses to accelerate rollout, amid attacks on its vaccination strategy from EU leaders.

The second gives a promising answer to what has been one of the great unknowns of the vaccine: whether it will stop the virus from spreading.

Tory MPs are now pressuring No. 10 to get children back to school and lift lockdown restrictions sooner.
