Bartolina Xixa is an Argentinian drag queen, a persona created by Coya artist Maximiliano Mamani. Mamani is a dancer and professor of folklore who studied anthropology at the University of Salta in Argentina. He is based in Jujuy, Argentina.

Interview done by Abril Cisneros, Art Historian from Mexico City. She holds an Art History degree from the University of Leiden, The Netherlands, and was an MCAD curatorial intern. Her research focuses on contemporary art and performance from an interdisciplinary perspective, the dynamics and impact of independent art spaces, and, more expansively, on politically engaged cultural expression.
