You don't need to know Ray at all to know that she's lived through unimaginable pain. After being tied up and left with no way of escaping, a pack of wild dogs decided to take turns ripping her apart, leaving her a mangled, bloody mess.

We don't know all of Ray's history. We don't know if she ever had a home or a family but when a local owner of a tire shop saw her hanging around his property one day, he decided to take pity on her. He would tie her up to a tie nearby to keep her close and then bring her in at night when it got cold. It wasn't much...but it was all her could offer her at the time. And Ray, likely not having had anyone to lean on at all for a long time, was compliant with it. That is, until the very worst happened.

While lying under the tree that she was tethered to, Ray was approached by three wild dogs that saw her as prey. Weak prey. And as they started tearing into her body for no known reason, Ray had no choice but to just let it happen because of the rope around her neck. She screamed and yelped and probably pulled so hard on that rope but it wouldn't give and by the time they were done with her, she was covered in punctures, tears, and open wounds. Her ear was practically dangling off of her and she was bleeding out. Seeing the aftermath of the attack, the tire shop owner brought her to the shelter and left her there in this critical condition.

Had we not found her then or heard about her story, we shiver at the thought of what might have happened to her.

But the good news is that we did. We got her and rushed her to the hospital where doctors started assessing the open wounds all over her front legs, torso, and neck. Her left ear is so damaged that there's going to be no saving it. We have her on so many medications right now to help but she is still in so much pain, both physically and emotionally.
