Salvation itself is a gift of grace received by faith.
It is a finished work. You cannot add to it or improve on it.
God is however not just interested in our salvation - He wants us to show the results and effects of that salvation.
God wants us to put that gift of salvation to good use so it can put the redemption work of Christ on display to attract others to Him.
