So there is this interview of a Satanist I listened to last week on a radio website. It was a podcast. So one of the things he said is that their mission first is to correct the misunderstanding of Satanism and to educate people of what Satanism truly is. So they managed to register the satanic church earlier this year. So according to them, they established this organisation so as to have a body that represents Satanism in South Africa.

So in this interview, the Satanist gave three principles of satanic philosophy:
The first one he said was undefiled wisdom of yourself. I do not want the means by that. Because an undefiled thing is something that exists in its pure form. But this would still not explain what he means by the wisdom of yourself.
So the second principle is to live completely free without guilt. Maybe this principle is tied to the first one. But is it possible to leave completely free? Outside Jesus Christ we are all slaves, we are all in bondage because we work for our goodness which then puts a burden on each person who is outside Jesus. To this principle, he adds that there is nothing wrong with our natural instincts. I disagree with him. Our natural instincts can be wrong especial in determining what is pleasing to God. But I don’t think he refers to those natural instincts. Still, he is wrong. Think about this for a moment: what about the instincts of a paedophile or a psychopath? Our natural instincts are tainted by sin, they cannot be completely trusted.

I think there was also another principle that was about knowing the true version of yourself. But look at what is common in all of these principles: they are centred on self. This is actually the opposite of Christianity. Because Jesus said if anyone wants to come after me let him deny himself. (See Luke 9:23 and Matthew 16:24). But if anyone is a Satanist, they embrace self.

Now he says Satanism should not be confused with devil worship. This distinction makes no sense. Listen to Revelation 12:9 (quote) “And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.” (End quote) Satan and devil are terms referring to the same being. Revelation 12 identifies him as that old serpent that deceived Adam and Eve. He also tried those tricks on Jesus in the wilderness.

He also mentioned that they don’t do any sacrifices whether human or animal sacrifices. And they do not condone it. He also mentioned that Satanist being born Satanists. But I do not know what he means by that.


But I think the radio host, only created a platform for the Satanist to advertise his satanic religion. He did answer the necessary questions like who do they worship? What is their explanation of creation? Do they believe in evolution? How did we come to exist? Do they think evil exists? What is sin? What is their explanation of all the evil that exists? I feel like there is a lot the radio host could have asked but did not. But Satanism offers nothing new except the same burden that other false religions of the world put on people.
