Ted Says enjoy! Following directly on from https://youtu.be/1rXiyrqHzas, young Patrick Braden (Conor McEvoy) maintains his own ideas about what to wear and how to behave - he prefers female clothing and women's ways. This upsets his foster mother, Ma Braden (Ruth McCabe), and Patrick bad-mouths her at the confessional (the unseen priest is Liam Neeson). We meet some of Patrick's friends, including one of Doctor Who's Daleks, but Patrick has no interest in playing Irish "patriot" games, although allows himself to be bound and gagged. What does trouble the boy is the loss of his real mother (he was abandoned by her), and we see his interest when a neighbour, Mr. Feely (Paraic Breathnach), relates seeing her in London. We end with the older Patrick (Cillian Murphy) putting on his make-up, totally at peace with who she is.
This is an edited sequence from near the beginning of "Breakfast On Pluto", a 2005 film which I highly recommend, although it will not be to everyone's tastes. Young Conor McEvoy gives a superb performance in his first screen appearance, sadly there were not many subsequent ones. The editing has been greater than I would have liked, notably what was said in the confessional; also missing is young Patrick in a woman's gown receiving kisses from a friend. An extended sequence featuring the Dalek will be uploaded in due course.
