In this beautiful demo session, Gestalta and her model Aleks present "Mayfly" - a performance piece they usually perform on stage for a live audience. Unlike our previous demo sessions, this sequence is not an improvised play session but a choreographed sequence.
A lot of the rope sequences designed for live performances tend to be fast paced, emphasising technical complexity and showcasing a lot of transitions in the air for maximum "wow" effect. Gestalta presents here a more humble and minimalistic choreography allowing the performers and their audience to fully experience and appreciate every moment leading to the final full suspension. The face-up position she chose for the apex of this show displays the body caught in between falling and floating, a poetic tribute to the paradoxical experience of Shibari.
Aside from giving you up-close-and-personal insights as to how her exploding Mayfly TK and Mayfly Suspension taught on the website are woven into play, this inspiration session also reveals the connection and dynamic created between rigger and bottom as Gestalta and Aleks move together through this simple but very poetic sequence.
