Hasn’t pokemon certainly gotten creepier in the past few years? Or has it always been a
little creepy? There’s an untold darker side of Pokemon that we just didn’t get as kids.
For every adorable pokemon In the series, there are terrifying creatures with ugly pasts,
like Gengar or Mr. mime! Let's have a look at 10 Pokemons you're glad don’t exist in
real life
Number 10. Yveltal
Legendary Pokemon have always prompted a sense of wonder and awe, but Pokemon
X/Y brought us a Legendary Pokemon that is to be feared and avoided at all costs –
Yveltal. This Dark and Flying-type pokemon is pretty awesome looking and has the
stats to back it up; but if this creature actually existed, you’d want to stay as far away
from it as possible. But would it really help? Yveltal has the power to drain the life out of
everything around it in order so that it might be reborn. Team Flare planned to use this
Pokemon to do just that, commit mass genocide. Whereas it’s not this Pokemon’s intent
to kill all these creatures and is rather a force of nature, it is still incredibly unsettling that
a creature this powerful would reside in a world where cute creatures battle for fun. So
challenge it at your own risk, because if you happen to defeat it in battle, it might just
suck the life out of you and the nearby town to revive itself.
Number 9. Gengar
Gengar's no doubt a familiar face to long-time Pokéfans, with the ghost-type body. Of
the original 150 Pokémon, there's no denying that Gengar was the spookiest Pokémon
around. but what you might not realize is that Gengar actually used to be a human
being. It apparently wishes for a traveling companion. Since it was once human itself, it
tries to create one by taking the lives of other humans." While at first glance that might
seem sweet, as all Gengar wants is a bit of company, break it down and it's ethically
horrifying. It used to be human. It tries to take the lives of other humans. Now you keep
it in bondage inside a tiny plastic ball for most of the day, and force it to compete in
animal baiting. So much for manumission; in Kanto, human slaves are still very much a
thing, it seems.
Number 8. Marshadow
There's a lot of Pokémon who probably shouldn't exist. One of them to show up looks
like it should be haunting your cat in an all-pet version of The Grudge. Take a look at
Marshadow! This is one of the brand-new Mythical Pokémon in Pokémon Sun & Moon
and this creature looks terrifying as hell. Or at least as terrifying as they come in the
world of Pokémon. We don't even know what this thing does mostly other than scaring
little kids on TV. The thing doesn't even have feet!!! It has two trails of shadows coming
out from behind its legs. As very few people in the pokemon world have seen it, its
existence is the stuff of legends and myths. All joking aside, this is kind of cool looking
and we are sure will be the misery of some trainer's existence as they attempt to fight it
in battle, or worse, capture it.
Number 7. Giratina
Ghosts are extra spooky in pokemon. They're not quite dead, but certainly not alive.
They don't have to subscribe to the rules of physics and often exist only to torment
humans. Dragons are big and scary and can usually do things no animal should be able
to do. They can fly, breathe fire, and bring about all kinds of apocalyptic destruction.
Giratina is a Ghost Dragon who is anywhere between 14 and 22 feet tall. His structure
and height make him as scary as a pokemon can be, especially when you consider that
he's one of the most powerful Pokémon in existence. As if that wasn't a big enough
reason to stay away from this thing, there's it's terrifyingly myth that reloves around him,
that he was banished for its violence." Banished from where? To where? By who? What
violence?
Number 6. Mimikyu
Here’s what you need to know about Mimikyu: its entire life is tragic. No one knows
what it looks like initially in the series but the sole person who did get a glimpse of the
actual creature “was overwhelmed by terror and died from the shock.” To counteract the
effect Mimikyu has on other people, like death, Mimikyu decided to wear a costume — it
drew a mouth and rosy red cheeks on a dirty old rag so it could look more like a truly
beloved Pokémon, Pikachu. Mimikyu is technically a ghost-pokémon, which is perfect
for Halloween, but beyond that, it’s a sad creature who just wants to be loved. If it takes
too much damage in battle and its neck is disfigured, it spends all night trying to fix it,
crying.
