This was an original piece written by performance artist Lura (Eclipse) Wilson.

I was inspired by a political cartoon of Lady Justice blinded folded and held down by the hands of two suited Republicans. This political theater piece was written in response to the wildly controversial court hearing between Brett Kavanaugh Christine Blasey Ford. When Christine Blasey Ford risked her own reputation to speak out about her own personal experience of rape by the hands of Brett Kavanaugh, in order to challenge the righteousness of his character as nominee for Supreme court Justice, on behalf of the American people, she was humiliated, shamed, and victim-blamed. Patriarchy reigned in the courtroom. Classic tactics to keep women afraid of using their voices to speak out against injustice.

Now two years later, Kavanaugh has been voted in and the United States faces one of the most pivotal elections to date between Donald Trump and Biden.

With American people being bound and gagged themselves by voter suppression, along with my own personal experiences as of late, I felt it incredibly important to share this piece of theatre with the world.

We will not be silenced.
