Do you know the first song ever sung in the Bible? I’m Gary Wilkerson with World Challenge. It happens in Exodus 15, after the children of Israel cross the Red Sea. They escaped the bondage of slavery in Egypt.
Then they saw massive waves open for them and close on their pursuers. And they cried, “We’re free! God did exactly what he said he would – he delivered us!” Miriam and Moses led the people in song, “Who is like you God, oh Lord, among gods; who is like you, majestic in holiness?”
That’s our song, too. Through the cross, we're taken out of the bondage of sin. Our enemy is triumphed over, and we’re set into a new holy place. The words of this song say that God is “majestic in holiness.”
God’s holiness means he never changes. So, Christ’s work for us on the cross is for all time. Because of God’s holiness, we are set free. That’s worth singing about. I’m Gary Wilkerson.
